the grand theatre

After a thorough search, the Grand Theatre in downtown Calgary was purchased as the new home for Theatre Junction. Built originally as a Vaudeville theatre in 1912 and renovated as a movie theatre in the 1970’s, the original elegance of finish had been lost, however, the magnificent space remained.

The renovation was conceived as a peeling back of layers of history, rather than a restoration, in order to celebrate the varied history of the space. The facility includes a Rehearsal Hall, Dressing Rooms and related facilities, administrative offices, and a Café and Lounge.
